Kroger Bakery Brownfield Grant Project

Columbus, Ohio

An Ohio DOD Brownfield Remediation Grant was awarded for the historic Ford Motor Company’s Model T factory building and the adjacent Kroger Bakery Building, mixed-used development project. The remediation work included removal of underground storage tanks, contaminated soils near an abandoned railroad spur, materials abatement on the buildings’ exterior skins, and selected building demolition.

Domus helped in leading the scope and budget development, consultant coordination, bidding, and contractor selection. The project was budgeted and managed for a fast-track schedule in order to meet the required deadlines.  In spite of required additional soils removal due to unforeseen contamination, the project was completed on schedule and under budget, allowing the Owner to take full advantage of the grant funds before starting the general redevelopment project.
